Essential Pomeranian Training Techniques

The fact that you are reading this article means that you are probably the proud owner of a Pomeranian or are soon to become one. A Pomeranian is generally a good choice for a family pet. These dogs are not only very cute, but are also fun-loving and very smart. Pomeranian training, however, can be a relatively daunting task for a first-time dog owner. Here are some basic tips that can make Pomeranian training a much easier task for you.

Love Conquers Everything!
One of the most essential steps you need to take when conducting Pomeranian training is to build a strong and loving bond with your dog. This is important because it serves two purposes: The first is that it allows you to understand your dog's behaviour patterns perfectly and lets you know exactly how to deal with them. The second purpose is to build mutual trust such that your dog will have faith in you and look up to you as his leader.

A well-loved Pomeranian who knows that he is in a safe environment responds a lot better to Pomeranian training. While building a special bond with your dog does take a lot of time and patience, it is worth the effort in the long run. So, how do you establish a loving relationship with your Pomeranian?

Invest Time To Play Each Day
First, you will have to spend some quality time with him. This involves taking time to play with your dog when you arrive home from work each day. Friendly and loving by nature, your Pomeranian would surely have been looking forward to your arrival, so let him know you appreciate him by giving him your undivided attention for at least a few minutes each day.

Mutual Respect
Second, you have to build a relationship based on mutual respect. This means that you recognize each other's needs and limitations. You can do this by establishing house rules early on and making sure that your dog sticks to these rules. For example, you have to let your family eat first before feeding the dog. This will teach the dog to respect your role as pack leader. At the same time, it sends the message that you respect his needs because you never forget to feed him after you have eaten.

Exercise Him!
Third, you have to take your Pomeranian out from time to time. Any dog breed needs regular exercise and even something as simple as a walk around the neighbourhood can provide a lot of benefits. Spending time together outside the house also strengthens dog-owner relationships and helps you create good and lasting memories. These bonding moments will also allow you to develop a way of communicating with each other more effectively.

Of course, developing a loving bond with your dog does not mean you should spoil him. You still need to establish your role as pack leader so that your dog obeys you at all times. A little discipline is essential in Pomeranian training and is, in fact, one of the best ways to express your love for your dog.
