Looking for tiny teacup puppies, and can't decide which dog breed is right for you? Well then, you're in luck because that's the topic here today. There is some argument (there always is in dog breeding) as to which breeds are actually teacups and which are not. In this article we will be talking about four breeds to give you an overview of some true teacups-Pugs, Poodles, Pomeranians, and Chihuahuas.
Pugs are often consider a teacup variety of dog. Some features of note include the fact that these puppies (and dogs) are very short haired, and need to be brushed constantly in order for them to keep a healthy coat.
They are wrinkly, and some people love that, others might really not like it at all. You'll know when you see one whether you fall into either group. Their eyes are quite protuberous and this can cause problems will small cuts on their eyeballs. Be careful not to leave sharp objects in these puppy's vicinity.
Poodles come in standard variety and in teacup sized as well. Amazingly enough the Poodle is very at home in the water, which many dogs just are not. You can definitely take your teacup Poodle to the beach and they will probably love it, so that's a plus. Being show dogs, the Poodle is very smart, obedient, and graceful. Yes, the minis have the same qualities as the standard sized for the most part. This is always a very popular teacup and for good reason.
Pomeranians have big personalities. Again, some people are going to love them, and others, well, not so much. One of the great things about owning a Pomeranian is that they need little food and little exercise. That just doesn't work so well with say...a Great Dane. So, the Pomeranian is a great city dog, they can be inside a lot and you don't have to lug fifty pounds of dog food up three flights of stairs, how's that for convenient? Like we said, these are city dogs all the way.
The Chihuahua was made famous a while back by Taco Bell commercials of all places, yeah, we didn't really like those too much either. These dogs were and are very popular in Mexico, and, as the U.S. has seen much immigration from Latin countries in the past twenty to thirty years this breed has grown in popularity in the U.S.
The average weight of a Chihuahua is around 3 pounds. Yep, that's it, just 3 pounds. So, needless to say you have to be careful not to sit on this dog...sincerely, teacups are really small and can be hurt very easily, so please remember that and act accordingly.
One last note about the Chihuahua, these dogs were very likely worshipped by the native Aztecs and Mayans in the more recent past. So, any dog worth worshipping for their character seems like a pretty good option to us.
When looking at tiny teacup puppies, certainly enjoy the process of narrowing and focusing, but definitely make sure that you are providing a proper home for these dogs, as they are extremely tiny, small children could really do a number on these pooches so be careful and enjoy.
