5 Airedale Terrier Training Tips That Work!

Your dog must be given proper training so that he becomes a well-behaved dog. You can use the following tips for Airedale terrier training:

1. You have to start training at a young age because he will learn quickly at this young age. This is applicable to both tricks and general behavior. This is especially the case with behavior training. If behavior training is given at a young age, the dog will learn it quickly and retain it. Then good behavior will become an instinctive habit for your Airedale terrier dog.

2. Airedale training methods have been tested by experts and are recommended. But if you use them properly, you can see good results. If the training methods like use of leash or crate are used for abusing the dog, it will have a negative effect. Every training method is meant for giving effective results but if they harm the dog, the purpose of the training and having the dog as a pet itself gets defeated. Firm but gentle approach is the best to train your dog. Likewise, you should use the tools meant for training in a humane manner so that you do not scare the dog which may again lead to bad behavior.

3. You have to study the behavior of your Airedale terrier inside the house. Only if you are satisfied with his behavior inside the house, you should try to take him outside where more people, more animals and totally different environment exist. This is very important in Airedale terrier training. Your observations on the dog's behavior will be the signal for you if you can take him out or not. If he obeys your commands inside the house, you can make out that he will do so outside also. Of course, there are more interesting things outside than your commands. But you can definitely take a chance.

4. Though training is a little frustrating at times, you should never lose patience. Hitting and shouting at him will have negative effects. You should not show your frustrations, your work-place worries, your bad-day experiences, etc. on the dog. If you are in a bad mood, it is better not to train him that day. You will not be able to train him properly and this will increase your frustration.

5) When you praise or reprimand your Airedale terrier, it should be done immediately when he behaves well or misbehaves, as the case may be. Doing it later will confuse him. He may not associate your praise or reprimand with his early behavior which took place a while ago. Timing of the praise or reprimand has a major role in Airedale terrier training.

These tips may be useful in Airedale terrier training for having a well-behaved dog.
